Taste of freedom

Growing up in a conservative household and being a girl is a very weird combination. It takes a lot of effort to come around the notion of freedom and to convey the same to everyone around you. Life can only be great if it has an equal amount of love, loss and lessons of life. All of this is possible when there is freedom to experience it.
First step
After graduation as most people I was confused as to what to do with the rest of my life. I was tired of listening to the endless list every Tom, Dick and Harry enlightened me with. The only thing I had in mind was to move away from home and get a chance to experience a world where night is always young. I rummaged through my available options and decided I wanted to do Company Secretaryship in Bangalore. Paulo Coelho once said “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”. I struggled through and finally had everyone on board. I was all set to take my first lesson to freedom.
Garden city
Bangalore or Bengaluru as you call it these days, had a vibe which was ethereal and serene. I found an immense connection and love for this place from my initial touchdown. The freedom of living on your own was definitely an experience I longed to have. I knew in my bones that this stint for two years is going to give me far more lessons than I will ever learn in my life.
Responsibility was never my forte as I had my parents for every beck and call. After reaching Bangalore, I had to start being careful of my expenses and had to keep a constant track of it. All the grocery walk-ins, endless triade of classes, laundry all became an exclusive part of survival which I seldom realised before.A place can be a chameleon where it is given meaning through the kind of people that play part in it. Let’s say this city has given me my best friends, the ones I can trust with my life.
The change
Lessons learned when considered an obligation, will get you no positive outcomes. Instead when you see those lessons as milestones, it has the ability to turn you around. Life in Bangalore was a definite head turn, from where I imbibe the outlook of “live and let live”.
